Animation Quality: Over 60 species of animals from all over the world will congregate together in Two By Two. Stop-motion (moving the puppets using increments and photographing them, to create the illusion of movement) animation is perfect for creating specific movements demanded by the immense variety of animals we have chosen. We are able to animate each of the species in a completely specialized way. With over 60,000 clicks of the camera, some puppets will be moved over 35,000 times each!
Technically Advanced: We are using innovative techniques to record the animation, enabling us able to eliminate wastes that would have been produced had we used other methods, such as film. These technical advancements allow for extreme flexibility in all areas, including editing, length, and many other issues that would have slowed the production down or cost more.
Budget: Usually, very little can be done on such a small budget, but because of our efficiency and resourcefulness we are able to create a movie that would cost millions to make in any other studio, very, very inexpensively. Our budget is currently $70,000 but we have capped the production and distribution costs at $200,000.00 The amount of support received will be directly proportionate to the potential of the movie. Any amount of money raised once the cap is reached will be distributed in the following way, 50% toward the next StartMotions movie and educational resources, and 50% toward StartMotions Land Preservation Fund.
Character Design: Because of the well-researched nature of the entire project, the animals will greatly resemble their living counterparts, both in looks and behaviors. The character design and look are achieved through the use of recycled, reused, organic, donated, or found materials in order to reduce production costs and reduce waste.
Animator and Director: Two debuting directors, 24 and 25 year olds, making a feature length movie!?! StartMotions young team is directed by recent graduates of Rhode Island School of Design. We are working in collaboration with current RISD students who are interning to find out more about animation and the environment.
