We have found a place! For a few crucial months in our developmental stage, we will be relocating our studio to a wonderful space donated by CINE Lab. CINE Lab developed Two By Two, the film that traveled to film festivals throughout the world. They are one of few remaining places that provides excellent 8, 16. and 35mm film processing.
This move will bring us back to the place where StartMotions was "born", in the Durfee Union Mill building Fall River, MA. Perfect! Not only that, but we'll be closer to Rhode Island School of Design, where most of the volunteers and Directors went to school. Thank you Brad and Bill!
StartMotions Wants to Relocate!
Do you know of any warehouse or warehouse-like spaces for sale or rent? We want to put our studio on the map. We need a place that will provide us with affordable live/work space consisting of about1,500 square feet or more.
Where - Ideally, we'd like to move back to StartMotions birthplace, Providence, RI. However, if the space works we'll move anywhere (especially California)!
When - As soon as possible!
What - The perfect space for StartMotions would feature: Large open space, wooden floors, plentiful wall space, needs work (not a "finished" space), bathroom, kitchen is not a priority but a sink is, large windows, and most importantly the space has to be approved for live/work and ok for us to have our (well-trained) dog.
Price - We'd like to keep our rent budget as low as possible, this way we'll be able to put more funding toward the projects and ideas that can really make a huge difference. Ideally, we'd like to have a space which is reduced rent, rent to own, or donated.
What We'll be Doing in the Space - We'll not only be working there, but some of us (2) will be living there as well. We're going to be animating, designing and fine art-ing every day. We're going to have art shows, film shows, openings, and more. We're also going to have employees and interns going in and out Tues-Sunday 9am-7pm. It's going to be a inspiring, innovative, enormously inventive workspace! While we work we like to listen to music, and we stay up through all hours of the night (sometimes animation shooting goes until 5 am!)
