Our favorite thing in the entire world is...the world. If you look up at the sky at night, you see stars and planets. Isn't is amazing that we're lucky enough to be one of millions of planets that has water, air, and is not -300 degrees? It's taken billions of years (some turtle species are over 200 million years old!) for the first organisms to start producing oxygen similar to what we breath today. It's also pretty cool that we're now at a time in the earth's history when the conditions are ideal for animals like humans. But, we do have to protect it, and that's where organizations like StartMotions come in...
Already, there are unprecidented changes occurring on scales that have only happened a few times in earths' 4.5 billion year history. What's different about the current changes (and unlike all other climatic events that changed the face of the earth), is that this climate change is preventable. The earth is a seemingly slow responder to our impact. Think of gaining
weight...you can eat badly one day, eat badly another day, and another,
and another. It takes about a week to see the results of the first bad
eating day, and then it's just downhill from there, unless you stop the bad habit(s).
Humans are the direct cause of emissions that are chocking the atmosphere and raising surface temperatures. We can, and have to lessen our own personal impact, because every person does make a difference, weather it's a positive or negative one is up to us.
StartMotions is trying to help the earth repair the damage we humans have caused. We work daily with recycled, reused, organic, found, and donated materials, and power our studio with renewable energy. Our creations teach people about the importance of maintaining a healthy environment. We consistantly strive to reach new levels of environmental commitment.
